Title: I got gelled
Post by: sethyboy85 on February 09, 2007, 10:03:19 am
I got gelled, thought it was dirty filter, NO it wasn't

3hrs on the side of the road yesterday and 30min today to get it running again. Got some 911 diesel like product that the local guy sells and also put in 4 gallons of kero (used PS and some 5w-20w for lube). Installed a 4psi solid state pump before the filter and rigged to battery to purge system (been meaning to do so anyway) cranked for 15 sec and then she fired up idles ruff for a minute or two LOTS OF AIR in fuel line and then took it out on the road and made it all the way home with only 1 or 2 instances of maybe sucking air (or pump stopped pumping from bump)
80mi later im home and starting to warm up. Hope I don't have issues im going out tonight with the car, I spliced into the wire on the stop solenoid for the pump so when I turn the key the pump comes on now.

Power Service Diesel 911 might get you going again. Its at Fleet Farm, and maybe Walmart. Unscrew your fuel filter. Dispose of the diesel fuel thats in the filter appropriatly. Fill the filter with the PS 911. Re-install the filter. Dump the rest of the bottle in the tank, and attempt the start.

i wonder if you could rig up some kind of heating device for the filter housing... and if it would do much.  i've seen those hand warmer kits at Canadian tire... just wrap the filter with one of those    if you use the anti gel/lube additives though you would completely avoid needing such mickey mouse setups hehe!
