Title: injectors?
Post by: gropar on November 12, 2004, 12:05:34 pm
Yet another injector topic..........

Long story short, on 1.9td :
Boost is at 12psi;
Fueling is entousiastic yet not too agressive;
Timing is conserative : tuned by a garage how works by-the-book, would not go to  .95 or .97.
Compression is rather good (410-415).

Performance and fuel consumption are ok but not great (aroud 7.5 in normal, mixed not too agresive driving conditions);
Cold start is far from impressive (-10 C at worst... yet).

I guess I should first have my timing higher (tough of .95-7 because I don't want the thing too noisy).

There is a lot of things that can be done to upgrade our engines, but it seems that good injection is often negliged. Why go to 15psi boost if your injectors skirt a jet rather than a mist?

Question is : could the injectors be the next to look at?
What kind of expense should I expect? (thight budget here  :roll:  )

Thanks!

Ho! One more thing : with a little more fueling, it is hard to get the idle down to 1000rpm... I did reduce residual fueling a lot, almost at minimum... Could injectors release the fuel to easyly?

Maybe look for RA injectors (the ones that were in the GTD).

Caddy or Smog can help ya I think. :wink:

With new injectors, your compression might be where it should be: 500. :D

Rammstein : I don't see how new injectors will improve compression!

Might improve combustion, but compression is more a mather of cylinders, pistons and rings.

Unless I am mistaking.
