Title: some kind of a merger with a popular cummins forum?
Post by: RabbitJockey on January 01, 2007, 12:28:39 am
I was surfing some cummins forums, and alot of the tuning is the same since we basically have the same, i think that some kind of a merging or something would highly benefit our forum, as i believe the 12v cummins tuning is way more popular than the engines we all support. i really love this forum, for its non profitability and the information it provides, i try to show as much as i can that i have learn, and i know most people do the same on here, there is alot of corporation *** that goes with the cummins forums, so i think we'd have to make a good choice on who to merge with, but i am highly curious as to how everyone feels to a connection between us and a cummins forum

i'm sure that a thread with a list of recommended links, including other forums, will benefit us all. as soon as you 'merge' with something else you lose a level of control and i think we're all pretty happy with how this forum has been run so far. my 2 cents, happy new year :)

I would second the seperate-but-linked motion. We've got some REALLY good VW-specific that would just we watered down by including another make of engine. I've built a short list of bookmarks to other forums, and think it would be great to include some of them for others to share. Here's my list:

VW diesel shop that sells parts/tools. The forums good

All things water cooled VW, A1/2 B1/2 especially the sciroco

The vortex, so many punks to wade through, but there's nuggets to be found:

Bentley Publisher techincal forums for every make they covered in the books. VERY slow in my B1 realm....

I dunno, why, do we need to merge?
I just stuck £20 in the pot, what does that work out at? 'bout $35-40?
I know the forum I run and pay for in the UK costs £80 a year to host, plus domain name registration cost about a £10 a year, so under £100 for the lot..
If it's a question of cost why not put a sticky at the top of all forums as I for one rarely look in here and tend to lurk in the IDI English forum and not really look anywhere else.
At least then people would be tempted to chuck a few quid in the pot.
Or, if like me you like to give people something for their donation then what about a forum sticker? I would be more than willing to help with this as I have a vinyl plotter (sticker machine) here and if a design was decided upon then I can cut them and post to a delegate in each country to keep postage costs down..
Anyway, my two penneth.

I can make up pretty much any sticker if anyone is interested.I could donate them to the board, and they can distribute them as needed.

I would like some vwdiesel.net stickers, I like this site a lot, I keep it in my signatures on other forums.

yeah i am interested as well, vwdiesel.net is the most informative site i am on, theres no bs and i love it here.  although bs would be fun, i'm sure everyone stays away from it for the same reason i do which is because it will just clutter the forums and make the useful information harder to find
