Title: 1.9aaz v.s. 1.6td injectors.
Post by: foxracer1 on December 14, 2006, 02:04:43 pm
Are there any differences in these? Better worse? What about TD nozzles in an N/A?

1.6 Td injectors have a higher breaking pressure (150 psi I think) compared to NA injectors. You have to fiddle with the timing to use 1,6TDs on a NA

I was also wondering about the difference between these injectors. I am running the 1.6 TD pump and injectors on my 1.9 TD AAZ. Can the AAZ injectors (028 130201 B) be used with the 1.6 IP?

1.6NA= 130bar, 1.6TD =155bar

Just clarifying so the yungies don't get confused.

NA34X mercedes benz Turbo injectors are 155bar as well and flow more fuel than the "upgraded" 1.6TD injectors that have GTD nozzles...

Thanks for the replies. Was just wondering if that part number was one of those AAZ two stage injectors. Interesting information about the Mercedes injectors. Always interested to know how to get more fuel into the cylinders.

i'm not sure but i know you could also try vanagon or quantum nozzles, they are supposed to flow more than stock as well

Thanks Sethyboy85. Limited quanities on hand huh? then soon have none lol: I have been buying my parts from AutohausAZ for a long time now. Their heat shields are about 85 cent each. They really do have the best prices.

Oh yeah they are slightly shorter but it's nothing the injector lines can't handle after you take off the brace that holds them all together then put it back on after installing the lines.

Then they might be a perfect fit for an AAZ using 1.6 TD lines and IP. I had to remove the clamps and bend mine up slight (#3 & #4 mainly) to make them work. I am a little worried about the lines being stressed. Thanks for that last tidbit of info. I have a new plan

try not to bend lines ,its not a good idea...
the(zinc?) plating can fracture on the  inside  of the lines when you bend them, and over time that junk gets sent into your injectors....
repeat after me: I will never bend hi pressure diesel fuel injector lines

thats why you have to take the brace off and install one injector line at a time to get the angle correct then reinstall brace.

Hi,
Just to clarify, are the NA34X injectors complete and ready to bolt in or do you also need to get the Balo injector nozzles as well that are on the page?

Do new Vw heat shields need to be installed also? I'll be getting new lines when I get these injectors and I'll tighten them down like you said.

I really didnt want to do it. I did use a tubeing bender though. It was the only way I could use the 1.6td hardware on the AAZ. Is there another route I could have taken?

bad news, autohaus called and left me a message, evidentally the mercedes injectors are on indefinite back order with no indication if and when more wil arrive.  I find it hard to believe that all those mercedes turbo diesels are out of luck.  Anyone have any other suggestions?

Discount Import Parts has the same ones in stock for $42 each.

Do the Mercedes injectors result in increased fuel consumption? Do you still use the VW heat shields? Will they even give you the core price back for returning them VW injectors instead of Mercedes ones? (though they probably wouldn't notice)

Depends on your foot, Yes. don't know about that one but I am sure it would catch up to you for returning VW instead of Mercedes. just find some from a JY that are at least mercedes maybe not 155bar but still better than a totaly wrong injector.

Wouldn't this make the injector just like the VW injector? You would lose the added flow from the Merc inj. Just a thought. :?: [/url]

How much of a drop in mpg can one expect with the mercedes injectors?

How much more power can be expected?
