Title: questions about cam locking plate for TDI/IDI
Post by: jackbombay on December 13, 2006, 11:35:13 am
I have the plate for the TDI, but I read somewhere that it doesn't work for the IDI, is this true?

I've read of people using a file and slipping the same number of feeler gauges under either side, seems like it would be accurate enough, thoughts?

yes, its not working, it got another offset
well, i had one running, it was ticking loud, no power even not on idle, i measured very fast engine temperature.
i never read about machining it, but maybe it can...

Depends which TDI. The AHU/1Z is the same as the AAZ, MF, etc.
The ALH is different.

That said, I always used a file the perfect thickness (no feelers required)  till QuickTD made me up a nice looking lockplate.
Had an 87 (MF) now have a 97 (1Z).

I saw a post a number of yrs ago on TDIClub of someone using the butt of a hinge

I have an ALH, I'll bring a bunch of files and hinges for my friends IDI!

Thanks!

I recently used a file and it worked like a champ!
