Title: 1997 AAZ jetta high idle problems
Post by: lyle on November 25, 2006, 10:37:46 am
My 97 jetta seems to start and run great at cold start it idles perfect, after it warm up and i drive it  the idle wants o stay at around 1600 if i load the engine up then push the clutch in the idle sits at 1000 then over 10 seconds it creeps up to 1600 .
I have checked all linkages all the mechanical seems good, this problem arose when the temp dropped to -5 c   I am now pouring lots of kleenflo conditioner through it, if anyone has any insite to this it would be appreciated

I've seen the same probelm with an AAZ the eaiest way I coud fix it was to lower the idle by adjusting the idle stop screw out. That way it won't affect any other settings. Its the screw that the throttle lever rests on.
