Title: Rabbit 1.6 diesel idling way to fast.
Post by: awcurl on November 16, 2006, 03:04:56 pm
I'm having a problem with my 1.6 diesel rabbit not slowing down when I let off the peddle. I checked the accelerator lever on the ip to see if it's sticking but it's operating free. The Rabbit will run at a very high idle for about 30 seconds and then slowly start to slow down, as soon as any peddle is given, it's back to idling very fast again, it's idling fast enought to drive at 40mph. Any ideas as what may be the problem?

My small amount of experience tells me you would need to back off the residual fuel screw, but why you would need to is beyond me.

The above worked for my rabbit. It could also be worn injectors.
