I just picked up a 1984 Rabbit turbo diesel :D . IT IS FREAKIN SWEEEEET!!!!!!!. I hug it good night (hehehehe). The car has its origonal bill of sale always dealr maintained also has all of the owners manual even the one for the PREMIUM tape deck ( the pull out one). It has the factory td package, sunroof and silver metallic package. Its so freakin neat. I bought the car complete minus the engine plus trans for cheap and saved it from getting it crushed. I will be putting my current jettas engine in it and shoving in a na back into the jetta. i forgot to mention that the rabbit only has 170 000 kms. Welp thats enough babling/druling so here is some pics.

they were going to crush that?? wtf!!!!
lol whats with the white smoke coming from ur car... thats a weird pic
-
i had a ***ty fuel system before i got mine done by giles and i think it was a combination of an injector leaking down into the cylinder and the pump leaking.
-
i wanna here some input. :D
-
you didn't mention that the turbo diesel option was a mere $300.
-
my 86 Jetta TD also has the silver Metallic paint option. The PO was nice enough to keep the window sticker. He had all the work done at the place I bought the car from. Its funny to see that the car I have now went for close to 13K USD when new.
Im going to steal your horn button.
Did all the Silver Met. Optioned cars come with Blue interior? I need some Helios Recaros. :D
-
LUCKY. That looks to be in awesome shape. Why were they crushing it?
-
VERY nice...definitely a keeper. I see you even got the super rare Turbodiesel steering wheel hub.
-
they were going to crush it because they didnt have room for it and they were dumbass rednecks
-
Wow! Nice Save! Body looks solid interior should detail out nicely too.
Keep us posted on it.
-
You suck. JUST KIDDING! :D I want a 2 door TD Rabbit so bad. Great score!
That Rabbit has alot of potential. Keep us updated on it. There were only around 400 84 factory TD Rabbits made.
I have a 83 factory TD Rabbit GL model 4 door. There were only 80 produced in 83. Very rare cars.
Have fun with it.
-
what happened to the motor? and it's shame alot of sweet cars like that actually do end up getting crushed
-
I am glad i saved it. the engine got pulled out an shoved into a callapsed out a2 jetta. no big deal im just going to dump my good engine into the rabbit and build up reliable na 1.6 with a ported and polished head for my jetta. The rabbit is going to recieve a bilstein/neuspeed race suspension and im kind of thinking about putting 13 inch wheels with the factory 6 or 7 inch? hub caps. SLEEEEEEPER!it will probably be done by spring and ripping around my stompin grounds. maybe head out to toronto for some auto xs and have a bunch of fun with the car.
-
what a bunch of idiots, take the motor out of the good car and put it in the bad one, i don't see the reasoning at all either that rabbit is in nice shape, even if i had a super clean mk2 diesel jetta what needed a motor i would still let it in the rabbit, but like you have said it's not much of a biggie. and you know where the original motor is at if you ever wanna go that route haha, just wait till they blow it up. but i suppose stuff is different in canada since td's are easier to find...
-
tds are getting a bit harder to find but most people around here are BRAIN dead who drive tds and dont maintain them.it must suck for vw td fans in the us. compared to yuo over here they grow on trees.....WATCH OUT WHEN FALL ROLLS AROUND! I need to stock up on them so i can throw 60 psi into it for drag racing and do one run really fast lol just joking im really tired right now so im rambling an soon im going to fall a sleepmiofgjkdnbgrtnbgjngn zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

I think the Arabs are scared too, check out this quick clip from VW years ago......
Can't wait till the 2.0 common rail tdi will be available....... 2009 in a nice rabbit......
-
lol neat it almost looks like my car.
-
I really like the last one. "Best selling car in Japan" boys did Volkswagen ever go wrong in the last 20 odd years. It's to bad they just coudn't keep making a good reliable car at an affordable price. Took a test drive in a new Jetta TDI the other night. Drives nice but holly crap there big dollars$$$$$$$$$$$. Maybe VW will make something off there new City Golf and City Jetta(Affordable and reliable). By the way Jeff, Awesome score on your Rabbit, I guess will have to see who's the fastest next summer my 2.0 gasser  or your Monster 1.6 TD!
-
:D that should be interesting hopefully we both complete them for then.
-
...they don't maintain them...
So THAT'S why my AAZ has a half inch of sludge on all oil galley surfaces, and another half inch of oil and sludge on the OUTSIDE too? My intake manifold is black...how the hell do you get oil like that on the manifold? I have to hot tank EVERYTHING.
damn canadians
j/k :D
