I got a ticket for 20 over. The officer spelt my name Jeffry while my name is actually spelt Jeffery (i go by jeff....DAM I HATE THAT NAME!)
-
I don't think so. Apparently they used to do that but due to the complexity of some last names they dropped that.
I'll ask my girlfriend's dad though (he's a cop) and works at the courthouse
-
Just asked. It won't work, you're not free :(
What'd you do?
-
1st gear drove slow shifted to second gear and stood on the loud pettle to aparently 90 kmh and he pulled me over 90 in a 60 he then dropped it to 80 in a 60 which i think is 3 points :( i saw the 90 on radar and everything so i guess im lucky he dropped it maybe ill go fight it . everytime i go to fight it they always offer me an even lower speed before i even fight it so ill go and do that.

yea the only time you'd get out of it was if the officer wrote down the wrong date, or wrote down wrong court dates etc.
my grandpa got a ticket for something... i forget what, but the officer made a whole bunch of errors on the ticket for him, and he got off of it :)
yea your best bet is to go to court, plead guilty and ask for leaniancy... usually here they drop the points, but you still have to pay the fine, which definitely helps insurance etc. (not that I have ever gotten a ticket though!)
now I believe if your name was grosely mispelled, then that might be an area of interest... hehehe
btw... 90km/h in 2nd???holyyyyy rpm's

o ya the lil 1.6 that could..........
-
What tranny do you have?
-
acn gasser tranny now
-
what happened with that ticket? did you take it to court?
-
If he did he probably won't be in court for another few months.
-
yea i forgot the waiting times... never looked at the time of the post. hopefully the officer doesn't show up

Insurance companies don't care how many points you have. A ticket is a ticket is a ticket. That's what my broker told me.
I don't know if every insurance company works the same way, however, on my policy statement it read the following:
Speeding: 15 5%
Speeding: 20 5%
The numbers represent how many km's over, and the percent represents the surcharge. 15 over is no points. So essentially, there is a 5% surcharge for every speeding ticket. I believe 3rd ticket and you're kicked out..
I'd imagine that a serious offence eg. Impaired driving, reckless, etc, would result in a much higher surcharge for your insurance premium.
I was with a "high risk" company though. Switched to a non-high-risk company this year after being with the high risk place over a year, and my premium went down drastically. Tickets still on record for another couple years too...
Here's what you do Jeff;
Set a court date. A real court date, not the 1st meeting thing, set a court date, you'll get one probably most likely in a good half a year if not longer, then just get your lawyer to write a letter a few weeks before scheduled court date stating that you will be unable to attend due to circumstances bla bla bla. You get a new court date set up. Repeat step 2 with lawyer, and eventually the ticket will just get thrown out. Or worst case scenerio, they don't throw it out and just schedule you date #3, but the cop could easily forget and just not show up. Especially if that's not his platoon (designated job). There are some cops that just hand out tickets every day for all of thier career. Then there are the usefull ones...
Fight it man.
