Title: Quick size question.
Post by: 92A2VWJTD on October 10, 2006, 07:49:18 pm
I'm just wondering what size the Garrett T3 barbs are on the compressor side, and hard line to the wastegate. I am going to e-bay an MBC, and I believe the barbs on my Garrett are 3/8":?:  :? , but I'm not sure. Anyways, I hope to avoid using any extra inline reduction bits to make it fit. Anyone with a Garrett will know. Do tell.....
Thanks

Here's mine, I added a grease nipple for the compressor side bearing. I only grease it every few days though. The other fitting is 1/8 pipe. I don't know what the stock barb size is but you can buy what you need I guess... unless anyone actually knows the answer to the question...

Oh ya, it's got a plug in there now anyways. Wastegate not required...

Wont grease interfere with the flow of your nice cool oil through the bearing?

Well since the bearing is in the center section which is a totally seperate peice from the impeller housing I dont think that zerk is going to do much but make a mess.

But more power to ya Chestrockwell.

Yup, looks like we're pumping grease right into the inlet of the compressor.  And we were worried about damaging compressor blades with preturbo water injection.  I wonder what a blob of grease will do to the compressor wheel when it's spinning at 100K rpm?   Good luck with that.

No, it's actually a quick release nitrous fitting...

It's a plug for whatever used to be there, seems that the only threads I had around were on a grease nipple so in it went.

I put all the grease in the crank case, that way it gets pumped directly into the turbo bearings from the pan...

The barb size or the bore of the hose that fits well..?

Think I used 4mm bore and one end was a good fit and the other very tight will check for you though, memory not good. Screw type hose clamps too small to hold it on well, tahts for sure, they distort so used proper crimp-type swageable clips

Yea I kind of was thinking that. But the older I get nothing suprises me.

It would be a nice place for a nitrous nozzle. :D Other than that I cant see WHY anyone would put a hole there.
