I have a dual fan from a passat to install on my jetta to help with slow speed air flow. It looks like it has 3 speeds while my system has 2. I was going to hook up 2 of them, has anyone done this before? Should I use low and high or 2nd and high?

the 1st fan speed should have a resistor on it.. its for a/c. Don't worry about connecting it.

I have hooked up high and low speed and it works. It really moves air and covers all but 2" on the alternator side of the radiator. I have blown two fuses so far does anybody know of a possible current drain or why this may be? I have implemented Roger Browns trick of the manual switch on the thermoswitch to control it and and when I close that switch it burns the fuse. His instructions are for the old 1 speed fan so I am pushing into areas that I don't know how it works together.

hmmm... how many prongs does your thermoswitch have? if it has 3 then only jump the fast one for your switch. if you jump both it will blow the fuse for sure.
i was thinking of getting one of the dual fan setups... i really like the fact that it moves air around the whole radiator... good for summer + a/c :)

My thermoswitch has three wires for the two speeds. I think I'll put in a relay for the low speed and put a switch on that setting. The manual tells you how to check the fan operation by shorting the red wire on the thermoswitch to the other wires. The dual fan has a strong current draw on high speed. So far the 40 amp fuse has held but I dont want to use it, it makes the battery connections hot.

the high speed mode should not be on for too long... maybe 2 mins at most. sometimes it can stay on longer in hot traffic. :(
I tested my fan to make sure it was working by jumping the connections on the thermoswitch... i may be replacing my thermoswitch sometime soon though :)
