I have a 91 Eco-Diesel 1.6 TD in my Caddy. I want to turn the boost up and have purchased a manual boost controller and boost gauge. Now my only question is that the Turbo a kkk-14 has a metal line and the boost controller has barbed ends. Can I cut out a section of the metal line and hose clamp on rubber hose to tap in the boost controller? Will the rubber lines blow off or will this work? What have you all done to make this work? If anyone has Pics please post them. Thanks Paul

if you're worried about blowing the lines off (I think it takes about 20 psi to do this) then just flare the ends of the cut metal pipe (not easy with turbo installed though...)
and yes you can/have to cut the metal line between compressor/wastegate.

How do you go about flaring the hose connectors?

just take the hard line off and cut it with one of the spin around pipe cutters like you used for plumbing. you can flare it with a "tubing flare tool" parts stores have these sometimes and they will let you use them. or you can buy hose barbs that fit on the original banjo bolts that go into the compressor housing and wastegate.

blake cut the metal lines on his tdi-m and put hoses on with hose clamps, he runs his *** up to nearly 40psi. and yeah about 40 psi pops the line off, i had that problem with the lda hose on my car when i was going over 20psi, so i zipped tied it to the intake, and no more problems haha

well there you have it, 40 psi :shock:
I guess you'd probably need a nice and long hose though (to cover more of the metal line)

any car that has cis injection uses the same banjo style ends. Get an old saab or benz with cis and take off the injected line...cut the rubber/plastic hose and you'll have the barbed ends for your boost controller
