Title: bigger turbo
Post by: dieselpower on October 03, 2004, 03:01:43 pm
hey,
is there any turbos that are bigger, or flow more efficient at a higher rpm and boost then the k24 that will just bolt up to my exhaust manifold? i heard the k24 is only efficient up to 22psi and i am running 20-24psi with lots of smoke behind me and am thinking about either just a bigger turbo for racing or twin turbos.
any help is appreciated

also can the 1.6l take that much boost or does it result in a blown headgasket?

i remember reading something a while back about upgrading a 1.9td with a 1.6td turbo, anyone know anything about this? what would be a good upgrade for a 1.9td?

putting a 1.6 l turbo like a k24 on a 1.9 would give it a better peak horsepower but you would loose the quick spoolup and response it has. it all depends on what you do with your car. around the city i'd keep the smaller turbo but for racing or something i'd go witht the bigger one. just my $.02
