Title: Found a 2.4 diesel engine in the j-yard

The only problem is it's from a mercedes so it's RWD. Anyone ever heard of one of these in a VW, hopefully a rabbit? It's the NA 4 cyl version yeilding 68 HP I think. Are vw and mercedes parts interchangable at all or no?
I'd like to keep the car FWD but RWD would be a fun project.
