Title: M-TDi Timing
Post by: VWT4MTDI on December 15, 2024, 07:54:33 am
Hey group!

I'm in the process of building up an AHU with a Land Rover 300 pump and I need some help with getting it all timed up correctly.

I've read so many things on the forums that I'm pretty confused!

I've rebuilt the head, so I am also replacing the cambelt at the same time, so the belt is not yet tight.

So far, I have set the crank and camshaft to TDC, camshaft sprocket is loose, IP pulley is loose.

I have the pump pinned in the timing slot.

What's next?

Do I need to tension the belt, tighten the camshaft pulley and then adjust the pump?

Thanks!

I'd tension the belt first.
Otherwise if the cam is tight, when you tension the belt it could move some.
Spin it around by hand a couple times then check cam/crank timing.
And then the injection pump timing should be set right.
