hello everyone, after a long time I want to reopen the discussion on the transplant of the instrument panel of the golf2 in golf1, I have a speedometer of the golf2 petrol, my car is tdi with electrical system and original tdi control unit, I ask you:
will it be possible to take the rev counter signal in the tdi control unit?
what are the connections? which wires to take? which colors? do you have a diagram? to install the speedometer without modifying anything, would an adapter control unit be enough? in this case which, petrol or diesel?
does anyone have the electrical diagram of the speedometer, I'll post photos of the one I have, and photos of my tdi ECU.
I apologize if I've been too long-winded with the questions, but if someone can help me I'll be happy.
Thanks to everyone in advance.

I think the MK1 GTI cluster is a better place to grab a tach from.
It bolts right to the back of the cluster, easily swaps in.
Here's a thread about converting a gas tach to diesel, MK1 and MK2 boards:

OOOOHH, that reminds me I need to check a message on FB about a GTI cluster I thought I saw in a pile of VW parts to see if it is the tach I want to convert to diesel. I have about 4 of them in the shed. Need to post a listing on them someday.
