Title: 1.9 diesel parts book
Post by: cdsx on May 15, 2024, 09:49:01 am
Since I had such good results with my first question, I'll press on with a tougher one: Is there such a thing as a parts book for the 1.9 diesel? You can download pdf's of the factory parts books for all manner of Volvos and Land Rovers, but I've never even heard of a factory book for the VW diesel. Does Volkswagen even have such a thing?

I seem to remember someone on this forum that has access to some form of exploded view drawings and part #s for the individual pieces but dang if I can remember who that person is

Well, it appears my success was short-lived. After 84 views in 5 days, I'm sure someone would have mentioned a parts manual if one existed. Very disappointing.

Even though they aren't the best place, PartsPlaceInc out of Michigan is probably the only place I think is available to find info on 1.9 IDI engines

I checked them out and they do have an extensive parts catalogue, certainly, but that's no replacement for an actual parts book. That shows every individual part, its' part number, and different applications. When the workshop manual is vague, lacking illustration, or just plain glosses over something (Are you listening, Haynes?), the exploded view in the parts book can clear up a lot of confusion. Just check out a couple of pages of a Volvo 240 parts book and you'll see what I mean. (I would have supplied an illustration to sell my point, but for some reason, this forum won't let me post an image.)
