im doing a brake overhaul and need a torx bit to remove the cheel cylinders. the auto parts store has no listing for vw, and they say they dont carry metrix torx bits?
-
Sorry don't know offhand what size it is you need, but torx is torx, no metric or imperial required. T-10, T-15, T-45, up to at least T-60.
Do yourself a favour though if you buy a set, and get Torx Plus, they fit & drive far nicer as I just found out. Brake job on father in law's 98 Lumina. Seized T-55's hold the caliper carriers on

On my 86 golf they were allen heads not torxs.I think they were like 5,6,or7mm.
-
i didnt know that torx was a universal sized tool. i guess ill grab a full set of torx plus.
and be sure to get 5 6 and 7mm sizes.
-
I'm not sure what you are driving. Good time to suggest people put their vehicle type in their signature.
I'm guessing they are allen head, not torx.

its torx. ive cleaned the bolt heads up real well so i can see it better. its definitly torx.
-
What kind of car is it?
I haven't worked on anything newer than '91, that has wheel cylinders.

its an 84 rabbit 4 door that originally had a gasonline engine and automatic trans. its been switched over to a diesel and manual trans though.
