I've been driving around my recently swapped in 1.6td for a few days now, and I'm thinking it's supposed to be faster than it is. So rather than guessing I pulled out my g-tech pro, found a flat road, and gave it hell. My 0-60 is 19.34 seconds. Wow... My friend used to have a '79 rabbit diesel 4spd and he thinks something's wrong as well. "Man even my rabbit was quicker than this!" he said. :) One thing I've noticed with this motor is that it never smokes. No matter if I floor it, lug it or rev it. I never see any smoke at all come out. I think that's a little abnormal. So i tried pulling the hose off the LDA to see if there was any difference. There was, but not much.
Any ideas where to start diagnosing? I dont have a boost gauge but I definitely can hear it spoolng up, i think my problem is fueling related.

thats around stock 18-19 seconds to 60... maybe 17 at the quickest in totally stock form.
-
my 0-60mph was just over 13 seconds, and all i have done was K&N filter in stock box and slightly up'ed fuel.

My fiat did+-12,5sec (Gtech and also factory numbers), topspeed: 170. 71hp@4800 128Nm@2500
weight about 850-900kg / 1870-1980lb
everything was stock, it got a T2 wich is laggy an got a IC.

Air filter and fuel filter are new or at least known good, right? Good quality fuel (not sitting around or old)?
Are you getting full throttle actuation on the pump? Have a friend push the pedal to the floor and see if you can go to the pump and actuate the lever any more. My caddy did that and if felt very sluggish...
Do you know if anyone played with the pump before you got it? Perhaps they turned down the fuel / max speed screws...

Air filter and fuel filter are new, and I just filled up the tank the other day.
I'm pretty sure the throttle is opening all the way. I'll try and install a boost gauge and see what happens. I dont know the history of the motor since I got it from a junkyard, but the metal collar on the fuel screw is still there.

Ok, hooked a boost gauge up and I am getting 9-10 psi. Should I start blindly turning screws? :D

(insert lecture on getting an EGT gauge prior to making fueling adjustments).

Ooops, guess i missed that lecture time.

Any difference with the cold start pulled out?
I was going to say to check the collar around the BOV because my BOV was sitting really loose due to a rusted and broken collar. Oddly enough I didn't notice for quite a while.
I would say to start with the pump. If their's no smoke then something has been adjusted. Maybe not the max fuel screw, but something.
Did you try the throttle lever to see if thier's anything more to give? How much travel does the pedal take before the RPM's start increasing from idle?
