Title: Attention ECODiesel Owner's, Air Filter Part # Needed
Post by: toddo on July 12, 2006, 09:02:37 pm
I'm having problems getting the proper air filter for my '91 ECODiesel. I ordered a Mahle filter, part # 069 129 620 which is what the website told me would fit but it is too small. If anyone can steer me in the right direction I would appreciate it.  The filter that's in it has the # SA6545 on it which appears to be a STP filter as best as I can tell.

There should only be two air filters listed for the TD MK2, the NA uptop airbox, and the TD/ Eco filterbox on the left side of the car...

OR you can make a custom air filter arrangement; maybe a cone styled filter from K&N or similar

I ran into the same problem because most parts stores don't show a TD in the US for 1991.  I ordered my air filter and promptly received the N/A filter.  Told the guy to look up the airfilter for a 1986 (or 1988, I can't remember) TD and the correct filter arrived.  What a PIA!

Thanks '91 Eco! I'll try that then.
