Title: Getting no fuel!!!?
Post by: jcouch7 on July 12, 2006, 08:53:03 am
I have been trying to get my 85 Golf Diesel up and going but to no avail. Here is what I have checked and found to be ok..

Timing Belt
Fuel Cut off Solenoid
Fuses
Power
And I am getting fuel to the solenoid on the injection pump

The problem is I am not getting any fuel through the injector lines to the injectors themselves. I have primed the system. The problem occured when I was usind some diesel purge and running it straight. I was revving up the engine and something just gave and the engine quit running.. I did have a loose fitting on the return fuel line while I was doing this and some  air was seeping around the fitting.

I need help with this!!!!!!!!

how much did you rev the engine?  Air in the pump is not good.   The pump uses diesel to lubricate it.  If you revved the engine high enough and the pump had no diesel inside then maybe something inside broke?

Try to crack open the lines on the injectors and crank the engine, that should determine if the IP is good or if the injectors are shot.
Perhaps your stop solenoid isn't getting power when cranking. I know mine isn't so it's rigged up to constant power. It got 12v in the "run" position but as soon as I cranked it got 0V

hmmmm sounds to me like battery problem.  These diesels do take quite a bit of juice to crank :(

either that or some kind of grounding issue etc.  or at the worst... the actual ignition switch for the solenoid power maybe?
