Title: Oil pressure switches.
Post by: Addy ACL on September 13, 2004, 03:58:09 am
I have recently fitted a earlier engine to my LT45 from the type was fitted before.

now the previous engine had two oil pressure switches on the side of the block and the engine i have now only has proviso for one oil pressure switch, when i start the engine and let it tick over, the oil pressure light remains off, but as soon as i rev it past 2000 rpm, the oil pressure indicator lights up and stays on even on tick over.

what sort oil pressure figure should i be looking for with a gauge fitted at tick over and at high idle?

regards mark.

I'm pretty sure that its 29 psi minimum at 2000rpm

I,ve checked oil pressure on two 1.6td's and both at idle read 9 psi when fully warmed up,incase that helps :)

I had the same problem with my pressure switches, so I just installed a gauge instead. It shows 25-30psi at 2500rpm ( hot oil), and like Andy2 was saying like around 10psi at idle, even less maybe.  My gauge is just a cheap mechanical.
