Title: Choices, choices........
Post by: redbaron on July 07, 2006, 02:21:00 pm
Hello im new to all this diesely goodness having owned only petrol gti volkswagens along the line.

Ive recently bought a mk1 caddy to look cool in but as its a 1.6 NA diesel its not exactly the fastest thing in the world. Ive done a bit of research and have decided that a 1.9aaz TD lump is the way to go, ive had a mk3 golf with this engine before but it wasnt very well and when I discovered I could wind up the fuelling to make it faster it decided it would shear its crank pulley in protest!

Basically what im after is how to build a reliable, use everyday thrape the tits off without breaking type engine. I vaguely remember reading that you can use the pump/metering head bits from a 1.6 (D/GTD?) in the aaz pump to make it betterer and that you can wind up the fuelling/wastegate thingy (dont really understand) to get about 100bhp?

which would be nice  :D

anyone gone down this route before?

thanks in advance!

I think you put the TDI crank on the AAZ engine and then you're good to go
