Title: V6 TDI-M? Feasable?
Post by: Baxter on June 07, 2006, 03:28:59 pm
Just thinking, not seen one for ages, can't remember what the pump is like..
Theres a few 4 cylinder TDI-M's about, has anyone done a V6 TDi in mechanical, would it even be possible?
TBH I know very little of this engine, I suppos it has 2 VNT turbos?
Swap for a pair of K14's and a home brew pump with the TDI head and rotor?
Just thinking out loud really

Well, the fuel pump from a 2.4 would probably work, but the clincher is probably whether or not they have LDA's for them. You might try calling up a bosch shop to ask them. I'm guessing the v6 VNT's are still vacuum actuated, but if they're not that'd be another hurdle.

i think the v6 is a pump duese engine so that may throw a big monkey wrench in there... I have abook on the v6 in my basement..let me check it out and repost. a lda doesn't matter you can add or take em off ..the aneroid isn't a issue.. the cummins ve pumps have 12mm plungers... with a lda..would be a nice swap if poissible.

The older 2.5 V6 TDI used a VP44 pump.  Conceivably the same pump from a 5.9 Cummins could be used.

Newer V6 TDIs are common rail.
