Title: Starter Solenoid, stranded in the middle of nowhere solution
Post by: sethyboy85 on May 18, 2006, 07:43:33 pm
So you are stuck somewhere and your VW Starter solenoid died, nobody has one in stock except for the dealer who wants half of your newborn.

SOLUTION:
Go buy a starter Solenoid for any 87-89 dodge (it probably covers more but just to be safe) 2.2/2.5l Turbo/NA it doesn't matter, they are rated at the same amperage. only problem instead of a clip for the 3rd wire (start wire) your bolt it on, not really a problem if you buy what you need at the parts store before going to mess with your solenoid.

another tip: change those dang philip screws out the solenoid for something with a allen key on it so it is really really easy to change after moving the fan out of the way.

Oh BTW dodge solenoid $21, VW $40... hmmm

if you catch your car on fire I am not responsible, if your car blows up it is also not my problem.
