you win a cookie!!!Its a "vw" preluber, now get out in the garage and build one!!!! :D   buildin' stuff is fun!! use an old vacuum pump,,pull the seal out of the bottom,so the oil pump feed to the pump, can drain back easier,,and make sure you weld the nut real good, cause itll leak oil. i found out the hard way, basically plug that feed in the tool or you will have a gusher.then make sure you clean out the inside realgood before using it,no sense in dumping crap in your engine,we vw guys build stuff all the time how come i havent seen one of these yet?im kinda surprised

My D24T oil pump is crank driven....No prelubbin for me:(
Come to think of it, my vac pump is driven by the worlds heaviest pushrod.  Maybe I should go electric, but the pushrod thing has been very reliable.

YOU  R THE MAN!!!years ago,my 1.6td had a snapped off glow plug, number 3,it sucked,,,igot a big set,and welded a big ol' nut to the broken part, it was snapped off flush in the head!!i got it out,but i didnt know the thread size, and the threads were burred up a little,so i made a glowplug thread tap,,,use nuts and bolts as taps,if you grind a notch across them, zap themon a wire wheel,,granted it isnt as good as real thing, but it worked for what i needed, enjoy fabbing tools!!!!!dont buy it,make it,and learn!!!

Very cool homemade tools!

I could really use a preluber like that for a splined shaft oil pump.

I know this one because I've read some of your other posts referring to it...  I'll let someone else try to guess instead of ruining the fun and mystery.    Neat to see these pics, very creative!

Well, I know what that chunk of tranny is for, cause I was wishing I had a dead tranny just the other day for it's purpose.....not to give it away.

but that other one has me!

The chunk of tranny can be used to time an engine thats out of the vehicle on a stand. It can be used on a TDI in conjunction with the glow plug "dead stop" to mark TDC on a flywheel that doesn't have a mark, or if you don't feel that the factory TDC mark is accurate. The plug is inserted in cylinder #1 and the engine is turned in one direction until it hits the plug and stops, the flywheel is marked with a scribe or marker at the timing pointer. The engine is then turned the opposite direction until it stops and the flywheel is marked again. The point midway between the marks is TDC.

,,,,,,,,,,,yes sir,,and yes jake,i have posted about this before,,,YOU GUYS USING A 210 CLUTCH ON A DIESEL,I CANT STRESS ENOUGH,THAT THE FACTORY "0" TIMING MARK ON THE FLYWHEEL IS NOT ,I REPEAT,IS NOT IN THE CORRECT PLACE,IT HAS TO BE CHECKED AND CHANGED.......you will be screwed if you do not remark the 0 mark, and go to change a timing belt down the road, the existing mark is no good, the mark is approx 1/2 inch off,at least,,and i figured the idi guys can use a tdc stop of another type,,remove the cam,and hold one of the number one cylinder valves as a piston stop,a fixture could be put in the #1 and #2 cam caps, and compresses a valve,,,,using this as a "stop".the top of this post/"quote" is right on point,,thumbs up guys!!!!and jake ,those homemade tools you have  are cool !!!!!lets see some more fabbed up tools !!!!illhave to post my personal favorite, next tool,,,and this can save you alot of money after suspension work!! ilike creating something with my own hands

heh, when i checked mine, on my old 1.6td,i turned it one way,the mark i made was like 1-1.25 inches from the orig"0" mark, then the other way,the scribe mark was like 1/2 inch from the "0",,,thats not good enough to get timing right,,i didnt find this out till the engine was in the car,and it ran like crap,,when i checked it,i went   then anger set in,,,,,what a &^%*^%&*to check it in the car!!!
