Title: vanagon aaz oil quantity
Post by: mortisetortoise on May 19, 2018, 12:09:55 am
Is there a need for more oil in an aaz in the tilted vanagon orientation? When I fill the spec amount it is within range on the dipstick. However, there is a line scribed about 5mm above the stock hatched area. The swap was done by a PO and I don't know much about the conversion setup yet.

Are you using the vanagon dipstick (behind the license) or AAZ dipstick (side of motor). I didn't think the latter would work with the vanagaon diesel oil pan . . .

VW never put AAZ motors in vanagons, and so there's a little ambiguity re oil quantity. It will take a little more than a stock vanagon, on account of the turbo. 4.5 quarts should be right.

The stock vanagon diesel dipstick is not very accurate . . .
