Title: Differences between Engines 1.9 D/TD and 1.9TD
Post by: DkmenchaR on May 13, 2017, 10:19:55 am
I just wanted to clear my question about these engravements on the back side of the 1.9L IDI engines

I just bought and Mk2 golf for parts (KKK14 to replace my T15, Rebuilt IP, 2.5 exaust no cat, 1.9L IDI) but this engine at the back shows 1.9 TD only while in my car shows 1.9 D/TD

Any diferences between the TD to the D/TD ??

Why not?

I have seen blocks that said 1.9D (not D/TD or TD).  Those were the 1Y engine code and had different rods/pistons and consequently a slightly different CR.

I do not know what the do not know what the difference is between D/TD and TD.  If I had to guess, the D/TD block is a later replacement block casting that was used for either replacement engine since the only differences between the 1.9D and the 1.9TD blocks are in bolt-on parts or whether the boss is machined on the back to accept the oil return line.

Thank you libbydiesel for the answer!! Well... I was guessing the opposite! 1.9 D/TD --> Old models // 1.9 TD --> Newer Ones...  But whi knows right ? Need to do a better research about it!! Anyway, how did you manage to put the images on the post ?? I tried the script (http://) and nothing...

I clicked your link, right-clicked the image, selected "copy image address", went back to vwdiesel.net, hit the reply button, pasted the image address into my reply, I selected the link that I had just pasted and when it was all highlighted, hit the image button to add the code.  The imgur page code won't work, but the image code will.
