Title: Fuel filter location
Post by: Gator79 on April 16, 2017, 10:04:49 am
Does it matter if the fuel filter is above or belove the injection pump?

For most of the Rabbits and such that I have seen the filter is below the IP on the fender.  Fuel is drawn up to the IP.  Not sure about vans.  I am unsure if you would have a problem mounting it above the IP.  My question is where would you find the room to do that?

It'll be fine as long as it isn't TOO high above. If you're mounting it to the roof you might have issues.

Doesn't matter much. Once the system is full, there is as much downward pull as upward pull.

Have you any idea what the vacuum pull in on the inlet of the IP?  I was thinking it was rather low like 3 lbs or so.

IDK, but I rekon it's gonna be close to the resistance of the filter, plus the height above the tank (~20" h20, which is less than 1psi, if you want to measure in negative psi).

I have it mounted next to downpipe on a firewall between downpipe and servo drum, as high as possible, works nicely
