Title: Gauge Wiring
Post by: VWrabbit317 on September 10, 2016, 08:45:18 am
What would be the best place to hook in to power for my EGT and Boost gauge in my 1981 rabbit 1.6d?

Thanks in advance

Fuse box,  There are some that have power to them and nothing going out.  That way you have them on the ignition and they are protected.  Use a meter and check between ground and some of those unused slots.  Then turn key off and see if they are hot all the time.

If so then a switch would be needed to turn it on.

Tap into wires going to instrument panel lights near the heater levers so you have lights on with the parking or headlights.  Nothing worse than a gauge you can only see half the time you are driving.  Or less.

Terminal G8 of your fuse block. It will have a connector on it with a blue wire powering the dash lights. Ign on power only. splice your wire to it.
