its explained in some of the faqs, you want to turn the pin so that the "feeler" pin will ridge against the most aggressive part of the ramp, which allows the feeler pin to extend the furthest towards the passenger side of the car

In the hole the pin sits in there is a little pin that comes out of the wall and rides along the boost pin. you want that pin to be facing the steepest part of the boost pin.

I'll offer a bit of a contrary opinion.  I actually prefer the boost pin to be on a LESS aggressive slope.  If you have it on the most aggressive slope, then if you floor it then as boost builds it smokes progressively more with higher EGTs and more smoke at full boost/full pedal.  On a less aggressive slope then when you floor it off-boost, it smokes some (depending on how the max fuel is set) but as boost builds it clears the smoke.  The added fuel when off-boost spools the turbo faster, but with the pin less aggressive then at full boost/full pedal you get less smoke and lower EGTs.
