Title: 97 Jetta 1.9 TD timing belt
Post by: ibmserf on April 09, 2006, 11:07:52 am
Just wondering if anyone might be able to help me.  I just bought a 97 Jetta TD and i figure I should do the timing belt.  My brother is good with cars, so I'm going to get him to do the timing belt.  Just wondering if there is anything else I should change, and if there is any online tutorial on how to change the timing belt.
Thanks!

Moved to troubleshooting section. IDI Engine is for power modification discussion topics only.

Oh wait! I forgot I dont have the capabilities to do that.

If the water pump has never been changed, It might be economical to change that as well.  I know this one from experience.  Changed my belt, then 1000 miles later the water pump went out.
