Title: 1982 vanagon
Post by: turboedbug on January 08, 2016, 07:49:06 pm
Hey diesel enthusiast, well I am  tossing the idea around about a diesel vanagon that is for sale locally for 1600$ it needs the engine rebuilt. The chassis is in good condition. No rust.Is that a good price? Anything I should look at?

mY first van was an '82 diesel 7-passenger with a sunroof. loved that thing. I'd say that the gearbox alone is worth $500-$700 if it's not junk.  If it's truly 'no rust' I'd jump on it unless you need it for a daily driver. They are SLOWWWWWW.  Probably not even capable of freeway cruising unless you're pretty brave. But with a 1.6td or a 1.9td or a TDI it's a fun economical ride
