Title: A/C issues
Post by: fdnyguy on July 23, 2015, 07:46:10 pm
As usual, I come to the best. My 98 TDI has ice cold a/c. After 45-60 min, it warms up, I get the white vapor coming out of the vents and even shutting it off for 30 or so min, its not the same. I cant use the max a/c because I think the foam padding that sealed the door is gone and I get nothing on max. But normal a/c on 3-4 is awesome til that 45-60 min.  Your thoughts?

Stay safe, stay well. Jimmy.

if as you say, the foam is around the system, take it apart and get that foam out of there, dont run a/c till you do it,, you can be stuffing a/c system and vents, thereby the evaporator is clogged and if you hopefully havent damaged anything,,it might be ok, the sensors pick this up and shut off a/c,,failsafe, hopefully it worked, you can, with vents apart get some aluminum tape(from wallymart is fine) and some glue, i use good glue, not that regular spray glue, and fix vent doorS

Yes, yes they are... Or at least they have continued through the Mk4s using it... Can't tell for sure till the car is 10 years old.
