Title: Mk1 AAZ swap; accelerator cable too short
Post by: CrazyAndy on June 10, 2015, 05:59:06 pm
I've swapped an AAZ into a Mk1 which was previously 1/6 NA.  The throttle cable sheathe is too short, and the pulls out of the firewall.  Is there a recommended alternative to the original 1.6 cable?

You cannot adjust it out? Odd, Travis did the same swap with no issue IIRC

I agree, and I wish I knew myself; It just isn't long enough to go around the engine, even with adjusting it out.  Are AAZ cables Mk1 friendly, or should I try a 1.6TD Mk2 cable?

I am just thinking logically and not that I have done it, but the aaz is only about 5/8 to 3/4 of an inch taller. That cable should work, maybe a little tighter, but not that much, other than the height all is the same proportions.

i didn't have any issues with mine, mine has a really odd throttle arm though.

But the sheath length on mine is definitely not an issue.
