Title: quantum motor?
Post by: sethyboy85 on April 01, 2006, 05:49:59 pm
whats the difference between a quantum 1.6lTD and a regular TD, I am guessing only mounts right?

could it be made to work in a jetta easily?

as far as I can tell it used different intake/exhaust but other than that

Yep... Andrew's right. There are differences in the accessories.  I can personally vouch for the fact that the alt / AC bracket is different than the normal A1 / A2 TD bracket.  It's only slightly off, but different enough to make the alt mounting a headache.

FWIW, I have a motor from a Quantum in my caddy TD right now.  It's got all the correct manifolds for an A1 on it though.

The important thing is that the block / head is the same.  You can probably source the manifolds and brackets from people here that have extras.

i put a 83 td diesel in my A2 jetta. had to get a exhaust manifold and ended up getting the A2 oil pan and pickup. works great. exhaust manifole was hard to get for td A2.

hey, it's great to see somebody else in central PA running on RUG/WVO

I got manifolds but I think I am going with a ecodiesel motor with half the miles. I have a 2 turbo pumps so I will eventually make it a TD

thanks for all the replies
