Title: CLUTCH QUESTION?!?!?!?!?!?
Post by: phaetonv10 on February 23, 2015, 11:40:46 pm
Hello all.

I am in a big dilemma here. need to change the clutch on my golf 1.6TD. code is SB. and tranny code is 4T.

Considering I am in Pakistan, it has to a very very informed decision since shipping from US to Pak is a hassle and a half.

NOW THE OPTIONS,

1. http://www.germanautoparts.com/productdisplay/6062.
I am very inclined to get this, but this is the most expensive to ship.

2. http://www.amazon.com/ACT-VW1-HDMM-Pressure-Modified-Street/dp/B0071RMQ5C/ref=sr_1_203?s=automotive&ie=UTF8&qid=1424763067&vehicle=1989-74-968-4--18-8-5-5273-2482-1-4-2095--1-0&sr=1-203&ymm=1989%3Avolkswagen%3Agolf
This is the ACT option and the most expensive. shipping from amazon isnt a problem since there is a service in Pak that ships amazon orders.

3. http://www.amazon.com/Centerforce-DF295296-Friction-Clutch-Pressure/dp/B000CISR1O/ref=sr_1_24?s=automotive&ie=UTF8&qid=1424762932&vehicle=1989-74-968-4--18-8-5-5273-2482-1-4-2095--1-0&sr=1-24&ymm=1989%3Avolkswagen%3Agolf
Another amazon performance option.

4- 12 are all available on amazon. and cheap and mostly stock.

Which one should i be getting ??????????????????????????????????????????

Currently I am running a SACHS power clutch 200mm. which was put in the car about 10yrs back when it was a1.6D. It is substantially more than a stock clutch. so my preference right now is a performance clutch, and 4T takes a 210mm clutch.

Basically you can get whatever you want or think you need. Remember if you have a 200mm flywheel the 210 clutch will not fit inside it. You can run the bigger clutch and flywheel on your engine you just have to have both pieces. Also remember that there are single pin and dual pin flywheels that you have to match the clutch when buying.

I have the 210mm flywheel.
And IIRC it's 2pin.

I think I'm gonna go stock and get the Sachs oem kit.

clutch is something that i would upgrade, especially while you're in there so you don't have to pull the transmission off again.
