Parts Place in Mich. is now selling chinese heads (new ones). However, their website still displays photos of Topline heads. And, they are NOT in any sort of hurry to tell potential buyers this.
I was forwarded an actual photo of one someone purchased (from PP) and I compared it to the photos supplied by Prothe on his ebay sales.....same details in the casting. Might as well by from Pete and avoid the $150 mark-up.
When the buyer called PP, they admitted.

Ya, I went to the "Hans" site and typed in the word, "big stood," (for a search) and my winter day became much warmer clear up here in the plains, when his mainframe melted............................!

They apparently used to be cheaper. They also have "diesel days" where they sell everything for 15% less. I personally just buy from GAP and autohaus az

yeah i haven't noticed any significant deals on diesel days haha, they definitely have some stuff that is hard to find though, and their timing tool kit is decent, although i wasn't impressed with how the shank on my dial gauge was roughly ground and not even straight, it works just the same.

Chris asked me to change his timing belt.
I told him I pull the I-shaft to see how the bearings look while I'm in there and if the bearings are bad I don't have time to change them.
Hell the whole thrust ring was broken.
Said I would find him a new I-shaft even though I hate getting between impatient people and used parts sellers.
Found one for $35 shipped,.. The guy took his time sending it after payment; a couple weeks.
Sooo without telling me Chris spent $150 for one at PP.
His mechanic installed everything, went to turn the crank and it stopped. They sent him a 1.5 I-shaft and the 1.6 crank hit it.
The correct one arrived just in time to save the day.
I assume he mentioned it to them but a month later they were listing a 1.5 I-shaft on ebay as being for a 1.6.

OH YEAH, they are different. I sent a 1.6 engine to my son who was pulling the 1.5 out of a Dasher. He was leery about using the 1.6 shaft as the thrust flange was broken so he put the 1.5 in. He tried to roll it over with a wrench and it made it about 45 degrees and bound up. He said the pitch on the gears is different such that it works for a bit but eventually the gears just jam end to end. So he used the 1.6 shaft and is hoping no leaks. I had a thread here about that and it seems it will do OK without the flange.

This gives me hope for reusing the spare 1.6 intermediate shaft with a broken thrust ring :)

I think he was referring to the pulley not the actual thrust surface on the IM shaft.

Correct, I had thought we were talking about the pulley, not the shaft itself.
