Title: How to tell 1.5 vs 1.6 non a/c bracket
Post by: jlpst94 on February 01, 2015, 01:29:20 pm
How do I tell the difference?  IVe heard the 1.5 doesn't have a threaded hole on top for the IP but I'm not sure if this is what I need to look for.   I have a few non a/c  brackets and I need to know what I'm looking for.  Thanks

1.5 is welded and prone to failure. So prone I doubt many exist. At least that's what I'm told... Never seen one before.

So they are identical other than the 1.5 is welded?   I'm hearing different opinions on this.  I can't attach a picture of the brackets I have or I would.  It keeps saying my photo file is too large on my mac and won't attach it.

Get a photobucket or other picture hosting service and use that instead. They are free and easy to use.

My info could be wrong, it's just what I've heard.

That looks like the non A/C 1.6 bracket I'm using.

I have also "heard" that the 1.5's are fabricated steel, instead of cast iron like the 1.6, but cannot confirm.

Steve.

Ok I'm giving it a shot.  I have an alternator from a VW Fox that has the extended spindle.  Hopefully everything lines up.  Thanks guys

I'm personally running a 1.5 bracket and it is defiantly welded steel, I've had several ocations where it breaks right at the bolts .... I've welded mine up a few times and the only fix I've came up with was putting thick rubber spacers on both sides of the bolts and have had no problems since.... I would recommend finding the correct mount for the 1.6 .... I also need to find one myself, but have just dealt with the one I have
