I replaced the glow plugs and relay awhile back on my 1.6na. Ever since, when I drive to the store, pick up my cold beverages and then re-start the truck for the ride home, my glow plug relay clicks like a banshee for the ride home. The ride to the store was long enough for the temp gauge to find it's mid-point sweet spot, and on re-start, the glow-plug "wait" light on the dash does not come on, all of which I presume means the engine is sufficiently "warmed up".
This originally on my 1.6na which is now a door-stop; the 1Y I just replaced it with does the same damn thing...
Any ideas out there?

Ground Wire, it is loose, broken, frayed or otherwise intermittently going out on you.
-
Or the seperate wire on the battery post might be loose.
What kind of car?

It's an '81 diesel pickup. The windshield leaks of course, so the fuse / relay panel has been drenched more than once. Anyone have any ideas / tricks on how to recondition these things? And the terminal lugs on the harness that hooks up to them?

Then the ground connection is behind the fuse box. Screwed to the firewall.

perhaps you can try to use a silicone trim/gasket sealant to seal the windshield for a while, you got to stop your electronics from getting wet; your floor too; rust, you may need to junglegym under there and get a good look at all contacts; you dont want to end up having to replace the relay box, or fuse box either, relays are expensive enough.
