Title: oil cooler differences
Post by: zuhandenheit on June 10, 2014, 09:15:32 am
Hi All,

I'm putting together an AAZ, and am having a little trouble with the oil cooler gasket. My new o-ring seems to be different than the old one. I dug up my 1.6d oil cooler to compare, and it does seem to take the new o-ring. i have two questions:

One, are there different o-rings for the two different oil cooler designs?

Second, since this is going in a vanagon which did have a 1.6, can/should I use the old oil cooler? (The angles of the coolant pipe inlet and outlet are different, which is probably better for my coolant hose configuration.)

Sorry about the unnecessarily big pictures.

My most important question about this is whether I would have a problem using the oil cooler from my 1.6d on the AAZ. It looks very different but I would prefer to use the 1.6 cooler.

Just use the 1.6 cooler, older AAZ's has the old cooler stock...
