I ceramic coated the bottom cover of the selector box
Powdercoated the housing
Ordered all new parts and shift cables

An even better way to go is to upgrade to the 02J shift tower and the VW Polo shift box in the car. Then you get a floating ball style shifter in the car and you've got a lot more options for short shift kits, upgraded cable ends, etc etc... Cheaper too...

I did this on mine, it shifts BEAUTIFULLY.
