Title: K24 Downpipe stud size
Post by: tdrabbit on June 10, 2014, 07:05:59 am
My downpipe studs are all siezed and snapped off on my k24, I'm going to drill and tap them.  The studs are 8mm correct?  I want to go slightly larger to clean and get some fresh threads.   Thanks

m8-1.25. You shouldn't need to go larger if you have a mill or drill press. They are awfully hard to drill sometimes

Thanks, yea I don't have either of those, I do have really good machine bits though.  I was able to drill one nearly completely out, there's less than a 1/16" of wall left, but I still can't break the remains apart to pull it out.  Which is why I figured on just drilling the whole thing out and starting new.

Lots and lots of heat should do the trick. The turbine housing can definitely take it.
