Title: Injection Pump leaking from max fuel screw
Post by: forbesthebrit on May 22, 2014, 07:08:06 pm
Hi all,

I have a new to me rabbit with a 1.6L N/A engine from an 87 jetta (has hydraulic lifters)and i have pretty decent mechanical skills.

I noticed that my injection pump is leaking from the max fuel screw. I have tried tightening the nut but it still drips about once a second when the car is running. I did pull to screw all the way out to check it out and i noticed that there is the washer between the nut and pump and there is also an o-ring in the middle of the screw. Do i need to replace the whole screw, the o-ring, or the washer to fix this leaking, and also where can i buy a new o-ring or screw? For that matter where can i buy a full seal kit for these pumps?

Thanks for the help!

Just replace the O ring with one that is compatible with diesel fuel.  But if you are serious about a rebuild study up, watch the videos out there and get a good Bosch replacement kit for about 20 bucks.  Plenty of threads here to read and keep you straight.  Keyword IP Rebuild?

^^^Awesome. I will have to take it out and see if the local Auto parts store has any the right size. I def. want to do a rebuild, but need the car the weekend.
