Afternoon all, what is the best pump for JX powered van,im after more power to combat the long hills and high winds in Spain.
Ta.

An AAZ pump with a boost pin from a 1.6 or a Rover would be ideal. I know the AAZ was sold in the UK market, not sure about Spain.

I believe they were widely available throughout the EU. AAZ = 1.9l mechanical engine from early mk3 Jetta for example.

Thanks both, the JX is a 1600cc engine [if that makes any difference] picking the right aaz pump is a bit of a mine field as there are so many of them.
What 1600cc pump is the best for power?

AAZ is a 1900 but the pump is fine for a 1600. It has a much bigger cam plate so it has the most fueling potential.
You want as early an AAZ pump as possible. It should have no more than 2 wiring connections. I think even the earliest ones had a timing solenoid with a single wire on it.
Basically avoid anything with a multi pin plug and you should be fine.

Thanks,Vanbcguy I have a EGT of 800deg c im not sure if its more fuel that's needed, perhaps a better advance curve?
I'd heard that a gtd pump was better?
I'm after a bit more power .

More fuel over a shorter period of time, so it doesn't finish injecting too late. You can get this by having more advance (end of injection finishes earlier but you start injecting a bit too soon) or by having a steeper cam plate (more lift over a shorter duration). More fuel over less time will give you what you need - the problem with these engines is getting the fuel in fast enough.

Thank you, that explanation is very helpful.
