Title: AHU caddy
Post by: Smoker on April 09, 2014, 09:51:40 pm
I guess I'll start a thread. This will be a long and slow deal... I picked up a pair of trucks. One solid, one rusty. One title.

I get by with a little help from my friends.

Both trucks were diesel. One had no drivetrain at all, and one had a bottom end and trans.

These were part of the deal, and might be worth as much as the trucks... OEM. Never installed.

I bought a donor mk3 from a friend. He hit some black ice at 50-ish mph and put the ass end into a telephone pole. It's still in PA but I'm hoping to drive it home this weekend. (300 miles). The car is chipped but I don't know anything else about it.

The plan, which is subject to change:
-Get a rover pump, and sell off all the e stuff (and maybe the new taillights) to hopefully offset some of the cost...
-use the trans from the mk3 which will obviously be the biggest hassle of the whole project.
-replace all front end stuff
-leave the body as is.
-VR clutch and stock turbo for now... I'd love to upgrade everything from the get go, but I can't have a 2 year project right now. I'd like to be driving it by the end of the summer.

Current shop status:

And the wild card. 5 points to the first person who can name that motor. The tmic is a giveaway...

If I'm not mistaken that is a Ford 2.3 turbo, and the only reason I can say that is because I bought an intercooler from one of those engines on ebay for super cheap, and it still has yet to be installed on something  ::)

I  want one of those trailers(http://forums.turbobricks.com/images/smilies/drool.gif)
But that looks like a good set of caddys too.

I drove that piece 600 miles this weekend. I think I might just daily it while I do the rust repair, suspension and electrical stuff on the caddy. It sure does turn some heads lol.
