It's the same as swapping into a MK2 or pretty much any earlier Golf/Jetta/Passat chassis.

If you had to ask.. buy a complete donor TDI car that was wrecked (without engine or electrical damage). Transfer into the Corrado the TDI longblock + tranny, wiring harness, ECU, gauge cluster, transponder (key), pedal cluster, fuel filter (mounted on front passenger shock tower), etc. The Corrado already has an electric fuel lift pump. Leave that in. After you disconnect the fuel line from the old gas engine, turn the key to "on" position (don't start engine), and let the fuel spray out into a container until the fuel tank is drained.
The fuel tank does not have be totally empty. At most 10% gasoline may be acceptable. Full the tank to the brim with diesel. Of course use only diesel afterwards.
If you plan on running Biodiesel higher than B20 concentration, buy viton or urethane fuel lines (the latter is recommended as it's cheaper and supposedly more abrasion resistant).
Replace the TDI timing belt, fuel filter (cheap), oil filter, glow plugs, maybe lifters if you have time/resources.

only problem I can for see is the filler neck, diesel nozles are usually thicker than petrol ones so you dont accidentily put derv in a petrol car.
Yo could fit passat clocks as the B2 or is it B3 has the same instruments

The MKIII TDI is easier. The MKIV has some problems. Look at the swap in my sig. It's essentially the same as a Corrado. Rear mount issues.

ok, maybe a dumb question, but i need to know - and im serious.
the tdi i had my eye on is now gone.
what if i put in a n/a 1.6 for the time being? (and i stress time being - to hold me over until i get a line on a tdi)

Should work, but it's still a bit of work to do. I'm not sure that the Corrado cluster will like much of your diesel stuff and you'll need to run some relays for the glow plugs. Will you be using a diesel tranny or the Corrado one? If you've already got hydraulic clutch in the the rado, keep it. You'll need it for the TDI later on
What's wrong with the Corrado? No engine?
If it were me, I'd just hang on until the right engine came around. There are actually quite a few being sold on TDIClub and VWVortex right now. If it were 6 months from now, I could give you an exact shopping list of things to get, but as of right now, that list would likely be missing a few things.

use a Mk3 or B4 and its a VERY straight forward swap. Use a MK4 and it becomes more involved. I'm using a MK4.

that's really all i can give you, but the parts guy from my local vw dealer told me about it a car show, he's pretty cool (same guy that helped to confirm my friends td was a td even though it was labeled "16d") anyway, he told me about it at a car show so i looked it up on google and found a couple source, i think i found some from google images, by reading one of the pages a picture came from.

but actuall ynow tha ti think about i wonder if this could just be a rumor, because i thought tdis were avaible until 1996 with the passat. and the corrado ended production in 1995. it could have gotten an early tdi possibly. but at the same time in 1995 vw was still putting 1.9 idi's in there mk3's. confusion. it's almost like the 2 door mk3 jetta rumor.

Factory Corrado TDI's in Canada? No.
MK3/B4 diesels in Canada:
1.9L IDI 93-97
1.9L TDI 96-97 Passat
1.9L TDI 97-99 Jetta (1997 could be either TDI or IDI)
No Mk III Golf TDI's unless it's a swap.
Every week someone has a diesel MK 2 or 3 on Auto Trader listed as 'TDI', lotta people think diesel = TDI period.

It is my understanding the Corrado is part A2-A3.
Jim dieselgeek has a shifter business that takes up a lot of his time now.
