I'm planning the next stages of my ECOdiesel build and I have a DMF from my moms TDI laying around.
Question is, will it fit inside the 020 bellhousing with no clearance issues? I'm sure someone has tried already :-)

I don't think you are understanding the 020. It is not like most other transmissions. The pp bolts to the crank and the flywheel bolts to it. Even if it fit, it wouldn't work, and even if it worked the DMF is a downgrade to a solid flywheel.
Please list what you are trying to accomplish as there are many clutches, flywheels, and pressure plates to get it done with an 020

I was mainly curious if it would fit and work. I liked the feel in the TDI vs the lightweight flywheel that it has now.
I know what setup I will run otherwise. Also, I didnt mean use just the DMF with an 020 clutch and PP, I have the whole setup.

The clutch splines are completely different and there is no place for the arm to actuate the clutch release. Then the idea of the physical space...trying to fit a big mac size clutch in a cheeseburger bell housing. The lighter feel is probably because of the 02a/02j being hydraulic and not cable. The only upside to the DMF is the lack of engine vibration felt.

Will not work.. totally different design than an 020 fw

I suppose I could've figured that out had I inspected it a little better. I just saw it laying around and it got my head going.
and I didn't say anything about a lighter feel. I'm quite aware of differences between the transmissions.
That's all I needed to know, thanks guys!!

Sorry, I thought you did like the lighter feel. I was thinking you meant the feel of the clutch and the vibrations apparently you only meant vibrations

Actually I didnt notice anymore vibrations with this setup. It just felt like it had gobs more torque than what it does with a SMF and VR clutch.

no more torque, just alot more rotating inertia from the heavy DMF...

Yep, exactly.

Most people with DMF's are eager to get rid of them for good reason. Ick.
