Hi guys, i am new here.
i have golf mk1 from '78 1.5 diesel, an i want to know if i had a crack cylinder head can i replace it with 1.6 engine head.
I want to know are those two head have some differences. Thanks

First off where is the crack? If it is between the valves that is fairly normal.
The early 11mm mechanical 1.6 heads will bolt up to the 1.5 fine. I think the prechamber is slightly larger though so your compression will drop a bit.

Thank you, that is very useful information.

early 11mm 1.6 had a bigger oil drain tho.. the front oil drain will leak.

I've never used one, but here is an adapter for the oil drain.

if that thing presses in the front oil drain, and gets indexed properly, then i don't see why it wouldn't work..
either that, or install it, and put a set-screw or 2 in the head casting to hold it in place..
