I have had a very busy week.  It seems that all my old cars are coming back to haunt me and i cant pass on them.

I bought this 1998 Jetta at a local car lot - someone traded it in - they knew nothing about its history and neither do i .

What i do know:
1998 VW Jetta TDI
Manual windows
192k
5 speed
a few toggle switches on the dash.
BMW rims with 195-70-14 like new looking tires.
Its rusty -  all over -
5 speed shift linkage is fun to find the gear...
It starts and runs - but isnt boosting ( more on that later )
cloth seats -
did i mention rust?

It starts right up -  find first gear let out clutch it sounds and moves like a diesel..  but you can hear the turbo whinning ( spinning ) but it doesnt create boost -   CEL light for :

P0380
p1550
p0605

So seems like easy fixes - the vacuum line to the ECU , the 109 relay and glow plug harness...

I just bought 4 volkswagens and maybe 2 more tomorrow -  i was going to use this a donor to a 1986 Jetta i picked up -  then today one of my old 1989 Jetta with a 3a 2.0 8v swaps and working AC wants to come back to me - so i  am going to buy it back and sell off this and the other 2 project cars.

$1300 - whole car -   as is -   Oh did i mention the hood is held shut with hood pins?  didnt know there were two layers to a hood until i tried to open this hood.....

This was $2000 three years ago.. I wish I had the time!!
